Key Program De-Tails

“The On Our Way Home Project”! – Camp Bow Wow’s Bow Wow Buddies foundation will provide participating and approved shelters operational training, marketing guidance, real estate and construction assistance for remodels and new facilities and additional instruction and tools that have made the Camp Bow Wow franchises flourish.  Further, the On Our Way Home Project will train shelter managers wishing to incorporate socialization for pets, ultimately helping the animals to become more adoptable.

In addition to offering tips and tools to develop and improve shelters nationwide, ultimately improving the quality of life for shelter animals and making them more adoptable, Camp Bow Wow will also choose one shelter in need of renovations and time dedicated by trained professionals to realize an extreme makeover at that location -

As part of the On Our Way Home Project, Camp Bow Wow has partnered with the Longmont Humane Society and the Humane Society of the S. Platte Valley, two rescue organizations that specialize in working with animals to adjust them to a play environment to improve their social skills. Joining in the effort is Camp Bow Wow’s real estate and construction partner, FranProp, which is teaming up with participating shelters to help design and build facilities to mimic those of Camp Bow Wow. The facilities are set to offer play yards both inside and outside, aimed at accommodating all day play for shelter dogs along with web cams for potential adopters to view the pups at play.

We are currently not accepting new applications for the 2011 calendar year, please check back in 4th Quarter for news of additional grant opportunities.

Camp Bow Wow’s Franchisee Foster Pet Program – At Camp Bow Wow, our mission is to be “All About the Pets”, but we also Lend A Paw to animals in need that are still looking for their fur-ever homes.  All our Franchisees participate in our Foster Program, with many helping 1-5 Fosters a month gain exposure to their clients through social media and website promotion as well as hosting Foster Dogs at the Camps so they can become more adoptable and social with our clients Campers.  Home Buddies Franchisees will often offer free services to newly adoptable pets from their local rescues and shelters and our Bow Wow Behavior Buddies Certified Trainers provide courtesy training with their local non-profit partners.

Finding a Cure for Cancer – We are extremely committed to finding a cure for canine and feline cancer.  We currently sponsor a full-time Oncology Student at Colorado State University’s Animal Cancer Center, Dr. Jenna Burton.  The work this center does translates out nationally to the other Animal Cancer Centers in the country and is also shared with The Children’s Hospital Network.  Helping change how animals that are diagnosed with Cancer are cared for will help save or prolong our pets lives, educating the countries animal doctors is a key component to making pawsitive change!  http://www.csuanimalcancercenter.org/
