One out of four dogs die of cancer, according to the Morris Animal Foundation’s Canine Cancer Campaign, which hopes to raise $30 million to help eradicate the disease. The disease accounts for almost half the deaths of pets 10 and older, and dogs get cancer at roughly the same rate as humans.

Camp Bow Wow recently partnered with Morris, to help raise awareness and funds for its efforts.

Additionally, Camp Bow Wow founder and CEO Heidi Flammang created the Orie Project, named after a beloved Labrador retriever who died from the disease.

The Orie Project, now part of the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation, will raise funds for Colorado State University’s Animal Cancer Center, which is focused on both treating animals with cancer and aggressive research into causes and cures. The research also has significant implications when it comes to beating cancer in humans, especially children.

In future, the foundation also expects to partner with additional companies and non-profits that are focused on wiping out the disease.
